I’m looking for help to create sample body wash mitts using African net sponge material. This fabric is open-weave and very stretchy – it almost doubles in size when wet or pulled. After the first few uses, it stretches and no longer returns to its original size (though it keeps some flexibility). It also only stretches in one direction, and the mitt is designed so the stretch runs vertically (lengthways). I’d like to create four sample pieces in total, varying slightly in shape and size, including:
A round mitt A rectangular mitt Variations in sizing
Where I'm finding difficulty is that the stitching needs to allow for significant stretch without breaking and must be secure so it doesn’t loosen or disappear into the gaps of the net over time.
I’m hoping to find someone who feels comfortable working with this type of material.
I've attached a picture of one I've had made but the stitching is not appropriate and I would like to make a few alterations.
