The finished manuscript should be engaging when read aloud, age-appropriate in language, and short enough to hold a young child’s attention—think 500–700 words spread across roughly 12–14 spreads. The core of the story must be educational: the narrative should guide little listeners toward a clear moral takeaway without sounding preachy. I’m happy to supply the specific lesson once we start, but I’m counting on your creativity to weave it naturally into the plot, dialogue, and pacing. A warm, playful tone, rhythmic phrasing, and strong visual cues for future illustrations are essential.
