We are seeking a skilled Arabic writer to translate children's story books from English to Modern Standard Arabic. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience translating texts targeting young readers aged 5-10 years old.
The successful freelancer must be a native Arabic speaker with excellent command over both written and spoken Arabic. Applicants must have a university degree in Arabic literature or translation. A minimum of 3 years of professional translation experience is required, with a portfolio demonstrating translation of educational and story books.
The initial project will involve translating 3 story books of approximately 10,000 words each from English to Arabic. The translations must seamlessly convey the story plot, characters, themes and tone intended for young audiences. Cultural adaptation of references may be necessary to resonate with Arab children.
Freelancers are expected to have a strong command of vocabulary appropriate for early readers and creative writing abilities to craft lyrical Arabic text. Translations will be reviewed for accuracy, fluency and readability. The freelancer must ensure translations are free of errors in grammar, style and context.
This is a long-term opportunity for qualified Arabic writers. Upon successful delivery of initial translations, there may be additional books and educational materials to translate going forward.
