Some reworking of story elements and character arcs will be necessary to maintain plot integrity while streamlining to the essential beats. Dialogue passes and trims, combining or removing scenes, and elevating narrative tension throughout will all be part of the editing approach. A keen understanding of script formatting, the storytelling principles of setup, confrontation and resolution, and the ability to identify superfluous material for removal are essential.
