I need a foodie and soup lover who knows their way around American cooking and ingredients but also gets the UK food scene. This job would suit either an American who has spent time in the UK or a Brit living in or spent time in the USA.
The task is to convert approx 100 existing soup recipes for the US market. These recipes currently cater for the UK market and palette and use UK ingredients and terms. The recipes are very simple and straightforward are for making soup in a soup maker machine/kettle, not stove-top so very easy to follow. The job does not require the soups to be made or tested, only to be adjusted/re-worded/converted/re-named.
Successful applicant will need to be able to confidently:
Convert UK metric measurements (grams, ml, litres, tbsp, tsp etc) to US imperial measurements (pounds, ounces, cups, spoons etc). Replace UK food names and terms with US equivalents e.g. courgette to zucchini or spring onions to scallions. Be able to recognise regional differences and when a food used in the UK is not something recognisable or available in the USA. Be able to provide alternative titles to recipes to make them more appealing to USA soup lovers e.g. gumbo and chowder are terms used less frequently in UK but are popular in USA.
