We are setting up a subscription service for sellers on eBay, Amazon and Etsy marketplaces to easily view and manage incoming orders, send automatic messages to customers and – eventually – perform an expanded range of customer service and stock keeping functions as needed. For the moment however there are some key points that we need assistance with.
1) Management of multiple users in a secure way 2) Secure storage of user data 3) Modular configuration for easy addition of new services in the future
The bulk of the actually functionality is actually already written, by which I mean we have backend modules which interface with several marketplaces, as well as other services.
Therefore we do not intend this to be a full rewrite of the existing codebase – but to provide a solid, secure foundation to organise and segregate the data from potentially a large volume of user accounts, administer the service access permissions on a per user basis on the admin side – and provide a modular framework where new modules can be developed and plugged in to the public facing interfaces as we develop them.
The purpose of this project, at least initially, is to perform the following tasks: i. Master installation script to set up master database For simplicity of migration, installation, testing and integration with our existing backend this must be done in PHP, so that the entire application can be tested in any environment simply by copying the required installation files and running the install script (for example – a local Windows environment with XAMMP installed running PHP and MySQL if needed! This is likely where we will do a lot of initial testing – although the production application will of course be running on a Linux server.
ii. Front end and backend set up for new subscriber sign up Users must be able to enter an email address and other details and create an account, which will create a new database for that user, credentials will be stored (encrypted, of course) in the master database, and every given user database will contain multiple tables for each of the functional modules which will be added afterwards.
This project obviously is for the first part of a much larger project, so if all goes well with this initial stage then we will be looking to continue with the same developer or development company, but these initial steps must be completed efficiently.
