The basic web application was built already by another developer who now has a full time job. The application polls an RSS feed, filters the feed and sends "alert" emails to users (those whose emails have been entered into the database) of the particular items in the RSS feed that matches what is being filtered for.
I currently have a dashboard that I can log into and add or delete emails of users who receive "alert" emails.
Current stack:
The developer has set up and Ec2 instance with Ruby, Rails, NVM, Node, and ReactJS. Used DynamoDB for the database and file storage handled by S3 buckets.
This Job: Additions/improvements
1. I want users to be able to create accounts from the website and select their own customized filters (of the RSS feed). So this would require user account capability and unique filtering for each users.
2. Refinement of the "alert email" format: this would require more scraping and script that formats scraped info from an .htm address into an email that goes to the users. Essentially RSS feed item has a link to an .htm, the contents at that .htm would be scraped for info that is put into an email which is sent to the respective user.
